Lakes and Reservoirs:

  • Elwood Reservoir/Wildlife Management Area, located in Elwood, NE. It is a 1,200 acre fishing lake which is open year round.
  •  

  • Enders Dam and Recreation Area, located near Enders, NE, southeast of Imperial, NE. It offers 1,700 acres of fishing, boating and camping.
  •  

  • Harlan Reservoir, located in Alma, NE. Offers fishing and boating of all kinds along with camping and swimming. Open all year , recreational season is form April to October.
  •  

  • Hayes Center Lake, located 12 miles northeast of Hayes Center. Offers fishing and boating

  • Jeffery Reservoir, located southwest of Brady, NE. Offers fishing, boating and camping.
  •  

  • Johnson Lake State Recreation Area, located in Elwood, NE. Provides areas available for fishing, boating and swimming. State and private campgrounds are also provided.
  •  

  • Lake Seldom, located on the south edge of Holdrege, NE, adjacent to HWY 183. It is a wildlife habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife. It was developed for recreation and educational opportunities.

  • Lake Maloney, located six miles south of North Platte, NE. Offers fishing, boating and camping. (pictured on right)

  • Medicine Creek Reservoir (Harry Strunk Lake), located near Curtis, Cambridge and Eustis, NE. It is one of Nebraska's most scenic bodies of water. With 29 miles of shoreline; hunters, boaters, fishermen and campers find it the perfect recreation area.

  • Red Willow Reservoir (Hugh Butler Lake), located in McCook, NE. Offers outstanding recreation including fishing, water sports, and a beautiful view of the sandhills and canyons. The reservoir has a resturant, Light House Marina and Grill that includes campsites, food, bar and Live entertainment, bait, tackle, permits, and camping supplies.   • Rock Creek Lake, located near Parks, NE. Offers a gorgeous pond stocked with fish three times a year. Is part of the Rock Creek Fish Hatchery and is a great place for recreation with the who family. Moterized boats are not allowed.   • Swanson Lake State Recreation Area, located in Trenton, NE. Is a scenic recreation area composed of four thousand acres of the Nebraska Game and Parks and nearly five thousand acres of public land. Boaters and water skiers enjoy the spacious area and fishermen can catch walleye, northern pike, bass, croppie and catfish. To the right you will see a beautiful picture of Swanson Lake and it covers approximately 9,000 acres with 5,000 acres of water surface providing for excellent fishing and boating. More than 2,600 acres are for wildlife, while more than 1,000 acres have recreational facilities. Swanson Lake provides anglers with large Wiper, Walleye, Pike, Catfish, White Bass, and Crappie.

  • Wellfleet Lake, located 1/2 mile southwest of Wellfleet, NE. Offers fishing, boating and camping. This is a beautiful lake that is not very populated. If you are in the area, stop by Dancing Leaf Earth Lodge as well and have an educational and relaxing weekend!
